Cree Summerville (She/Her) is a new board member at The Glass House with a growing passion for working with nonprofits. Over the last year she has volunteered for Glass House events and attended others hosted by T.A.G. and other nonprofit organizations. It was a natural transition for her to begin working more officially with the resource center by joining the board. She is dedicated to upholding the overall goals and mission that serve as the foundation of The Glass House. I am especially looking forward to assisting with opportunities that empower our communities.
Currently, Cree Summerville is working with The Glass House to develop a podcast that captures East Texas Queer history, culture, and experiences. This idea was brought about after enjoying several retellings of nonprofiting history within the queer community amongst Erin Bailey, Karen Wilkerson, and others. And we realized that there was a need to collect these stories, and others like them to share with the community. Outside of her work with The Glass House, Cree is a local collage artist and painter, a UT Tyler and TJC graduate, and a local Tylerite. She enjoys cycling, reading, art, and being a cat mom.
Looking ahead, Cree Summerville is committed to contributing to the overall growth of The Glass House and its future collaborations with other ETX nonprofits. She believes in the power of nurturing communities in order to insure long-lasting and meaningful change. Whether she is volunteering to set-up decorations, planning interviews, or assisting with chaperoning at the center, Cree strives to make a positive impact on those around her and to inspire others to achieve their potential.
